Gulf-liveried cars set for ultimate endurance challenge
Countdown to Le Mans 24 Hours begins
This weekend the newly developed Gulf-sponsored AMR-One LMP1 prototype race car will be put through its toughest challenge to date as both the 007 and 009 compete at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
All that remains from 2010’s entry is the iconic orange and blue Gulf Oil livery that is so synonymous with Le Mans.
Driving the 007 car on the 13.4-kilometre Circuit de la Sarthe will be Briton Darren Turner, Stefan Mücke of Germany and ex-F1 ace, Austria’s Christian Klien. Harold Primat, Andy Meyrick of Great Britain and Mexican Adrian Fernandez are set to pilot the 009.
“Le Mans will always be a special place for everybody associated with Gulf,” explains Keith Jewers, Director, Gulf Retail. “We wish everybody well for the weekend and I’m sure both Darren and Andy will do the UK proud as always.”
The 24 hour endurance epic begins at 2pm UK-time on Saturday 11th June in front of an anticipated crowd of 250,000.
