Strong start continues for Gulf Aston Martin Racing
100% podium success for Gulf Lola-Aston Martin
In one of the closest finishes the event has ever seen, the Gulf sponsored Aston Martin Racing LMP1 of Adrian Fernández and Harold Prima took the runners up position in the second round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at Long Beach, California. The powder blue and orange racer came within a whisker of victory, being passed only on the very last lap by the Highcroft Racing car of Simon Pagenaud and former Gulf AMR driver David Brabham - the margin of victory at the end of the 100-minute race was 0.353 seconds.
The result maintains Gulf and AMR's fantastic record of podium finishes this year - three from three races entered.
Mexican Fernández had grabbed a sensational pole position in #007 by the narrowest of margins, setting the tone for the titanic struggle that was to follow, with the two cars battling it out right to the finish line.
Keith Jewers, Director, Gulf Retail comments: "We're delighted that Gulf continues to set the standards in the world's leading endurance events with Le Mans just 6 weeks away."
The next competitive action in the Le Mans Series comes at Spa Francorchamps, Belgium on the 7th, 8th and 9th of May.
