A successful reopening
Roydon Service Station is back in orange and blue.
When Roydon Service Station closed for business during early 2007 its impact on the local community was considerable.
The site had been serving the needs of Roydon and surrounding villages for many decades and, with no other petrol filling stations on the busy through route (A1066) the nearest fuel stop for many former customers would now involve a journey of more than six miles.
Enter Adrian Taber of L R Wyard-Scott Ltd who, supported by the local community and local council, has purchased the site and re-opened this much needed local amenity. Under the distinctive blue and orange livery of Gulf Retail, the site is once again a vibrant part of the community, Roydon Service Station is now a viable business.
Set to exceed 2 million litres in its first year the site benefits from a newly refurbished convenience store and, since opening, has expanded its range to include local produce. Along with a full range of Gulf-supplied fuels and lubricants the site also includes Norfolk’s first Aixam quadricycle franchise. These small, energy efficient vehicles, including electrically powered lorries, are growing in popularity, their green credentials have already seen a rapid increase in sales within metropolitan areas.
