King campaign prospering with Gulf range
Gulf motorcycle proves its worth at rain-soaked event
The fastest accelerating bike in Europe, manufactured by Puma Engineering, whose engines are recognised as some of the most technically advanced worldwide, is currently prospering on the international racing stage in tandem with Gulf Oil Max Plus 20W50.
Although adverse weather conditions in Gardermoen, Norway over the weekend prevented Ian King and the Gulf Racing Top Fuel Motorcycle from extending the team’s lead at the top of the FIM/UEM European Top Fuel Bike Championship table, the credentials of both were demonstrated once again.
Following the cancellation of Friday’s qualifying session amid heavy rainfall, King – powered by Gulf’s premium range of lubricants and gear oils – topped Saturday’s qualifying with a personal best for the bike of 6.25 seconds (380.95 km/h).
It was not to be for King on this occasion as the heavens opened again on Sunday, with the Race Director calling off the event shortly after 2pm.
The Championship now heads for NitrOlympX in Hockenheim, Germany this weekend for the penultimate round of the season with King leading the field by 40 points.
King said: “In our sport it’s absolutely essential that the oil performs to its optimum. We use Gulf’s forecourt range of products and the best possible demonstration of it is that even under the most extreme conditions, they maintain their viscosity and performance.”
“The bike accelerates from 0-250mph in under six seconds; many other oils would fall apart under such intense circumstances.”
