Gulf Aston Martin Racing teams show the way at Le Mans
007 and 009 fastest petrol runners on the grid
Both Gulf Aston Martin Racing teams have made an impressive start to the Le Mans 24 Hours event, qualifying as the two fastest petrol runners in the field.The 007 LMP1 of Adrian Fernandez, Stefan Mücke and Harold Primat will begin at eight on the grid after setting a qualifying time of 3m26.680s.
British drivers Darren Turner and Sam Hancock - alongside Copenhagen-born and London-based team-mate Juan Barazi - start in ninth after recording 3m26.747s in the 009 - less than a tenth of a second behind its sister car - demonstrating the fierce competition to come throughout the weekend.
The 13.4-kilometre Circuit de la Sarthe fell victim to heavy rain throughout the day, washing much of the rubber off the track and making it extremely slippery. As a result, the times established during the previous qualifying session remained in place.

The Le Mans 24 Hours gets underway at 2pm UK time on Saturday 12th June.
