A golden partnership
London site going from strength to strength
With the Olympics looming, John Petrides, owner of the Gulf-supplied Norbury Service Centre could be excused for not having his full attention on day to day forecourt activities.
With tickets now on sale, anticipation and excitement levels are increasing day by day, a sentiment shared by those who will be directly involved, and John is no exception.
As one of the leading lights in the Triathlon world, the current Chair of Crystal Palace Triathletes and Race Director of the Crystal Palace Triathlon is finding almost all of his spare time taken up by the sport.
“With the Olympics just around the corner these are very busy times,” he explains. “Thankfully our recent decision to switch from Jet to Gulf has revitalised the site and with revenues growing it has allowed me more time to concentrate on Triathlon matters.”
“We’ve owned Norbury Service Centre for 15 years and had been with Jet for a long time. We prefer continuity but it was an important move for the future of the business and it is reassuring to have such strong support from Gulf.”
“Service levels are much more personal and immediate and, as part of our deal, we receive free expert advice in all forecourt procedures, including health and safety and risk assessment.”
Following the flying start to the two-million litre site’s partnership with Gulf, further improvements are set to be introduced.
“Our aim for the immediate future is to build our fuel volumes back to where they were around 10 years ago, which was two tankers per week,” adds John, who previously served a maximum term of three years as Chair of Triathlon London. “Once we near those figures, we’ll look to develop other areas of the operation.”
“I’m optimistic that alongside the continued accomplishments of the business, we’ll also be celebrating Triathlon Olympic success for Great Britain come August 2012.”
