Filling station set to blossom with Gulf
Forecourt and garden centre business flourishing
The recent tie-up between Gulf and Houghton's Filling Stations in Garstang, Preston, has already proved a success for Paul and Elaine Wellings, the husband and wife team that have owned and operated the forecourt and garden centre business for the past 15 years. Their decision to switch to Gulf is part of a long term plan to develop and expand Houghton's to protect and strengthen their investment."The site looks a lot smarter now with the Gulf imagery and the strength of the brand is encouraging new traffic to the site." explains Paul.
"We had been buying independently and the decision to link up with Gulf has already started to reap rewards.
"The garden centre also works well alongside the filling station; our customers often enjoy the good flower displays we have on show.
"We're now introducing Gulf's Card Services to the site which will boost sales from local businesses and increase customer loyalty and trade."
Gulf's Card Services allows dealers to process all standard bank, charge and fuel bunkering cards, as well as the Gulf Fuel Card. Paul says this scheme will be a welcome addition to the business, which he admits keeps him busy at all hours of the day and night.
"It sometimes feels like a 24/7 job when you live on site and it can be pretty tough on us both at times but we're confident that we are moving forward with Gulf."
