Diesels outperform petrol cars
Fuel efficiency a priority for motorists
They show that diesel car registrations accounted for 50.6%
of the market in July while alternative fuel vehicles also achieved a record
share with 1.4%.
Petrol car registrations were considerably down as they were outdone by diesels
for the first time.
In total, new car registrations remained up 163,004 units (15.1%), for 2010 as a whole.
"We're definitely seeing a change on the forecourts," explains Steve White, Regional Manager, South. "Where many sites were seeing a 60/40 split in favour of unleaded, the gap is now closing, some operators have readjusted their tankage and we're expecting diesel to excel for the foreseeable future."
