Aston Martin Racing unveils 2009 plans
New challenges for Gulf and Aston Martin Racing in 2009
Two brand-new Aston Martin prototype racers, liveried in Gulf’s iconic blue and orange racing colours, will spearhead an all-out attack on both the Le Mans 24hours and the five-race Le Mans Series in 2009.Following a GT1 class win with Aston Martin Racing in 2008, the two Gulf branded Aston Martin Racing works cars will this year compete for overall victory at the French classic as Gulf celebrates the 40th anniversary of a famous Le Mans victory with the Ford GT 40.
Gulf has been synonymous with Le Mans and world class endurance racing for more than four decades, its racing achievements have helped to build global recognition for the distinctive logo whilst demonstrating the quality and performance capabilities of its fuels and lubricants.
“This year will be no different,” explains Keith Jewers, Director, Gulf Retail, “Even though these are difficult trading times for all of us we shall continue to robustly market the business for the benefit of our dealers. Petrol retailers join the Gulf network for our support packages, our products and our brand. This is Gulf’s most ambitious race programme for several years, it increases brand visibility and provides an exciting platform from which to introduce a range of business-building initiatives for Gulf dealers across the UK.”
The race programme starts in Barcelona in early April with the 24 hours of Le Mans taking place over the weekend of 13/14 June. The cars will race in the UK at the 1000km of Silverstone on Sunday 13th September.
