Gulf supported team continues 2009 form
Reigning Le Mans series Champions Aston Martin Racing, again sporting the powder blue and orange colours of Gulf, have begun the 2010 season as they ended 2009, on the podium.The 8 hours of Le Castellet at the Paul Ricard Circuit, France saw the team of Stefan Mücke, Adrian Fernandez and Harold Primat finish second, living up to their billing as strong contenders for the Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1) title once again.
The 009 Gulf-branded Lola-Aston Martin LMP1 led the race at one point following a move by Mücke on Stéphane Sarrazin of ORECA-Matmut and Allan McNish. Experienced Scotsman McNish, alongside Italian Dindo Capello, was celebrating a first-place finish for the Audi R15 TDI come the end of the race.
Aston Martin Racing's Mücke explained: "It was very tough; we had to push for the whole race. We had a small problem at the end, but the car has been good and consistent."
The next stop for the Le Mans Series is Spa Francorchamps, Belgium on the 7th, 8th and 9th of May.
