2008 Le Mans Winner comes to Bedale
Aston Martin visits John Gill Limited.
Fresh from its GT1 win at this years Le Mans 24 Hours, the victorious Gulf-liveried Aston Martin DBR9 is making an appearance this weekend, at the Gulf branded John Gill Limited in Aiskew, North Yorkshire.Gulf, whose head office is based in Bramham, West Yorkshire, have brought the car to the John Gill Limited as part of the celebrations of this years win and the 40th anniversary of their first win at Le Man in 1968. John Gill, Managing Director said, "We are delighted that Gulf has chosen the Chrysler Jeep and Morgan showroom at John Gill Limited to display the car during the celebrations. Whilst these are challenging times we take great pride in looking after our customers as we have done for all these years. It is very exciting for them to be able to see such an iconic car in our showroom and although we can't offer any test drives in it, there are plenty of other fine cars in our showroom that will provide a more comfortable drive, if not quite so fast."
Jonathan Turner, Gulf Retail Chief Executive said, "After Aston Martin Racing successfully defended their GT1 title at Le Mans, we decided to bring the car to the home of Gulf in the UK - Yorkshire. It's a great opportunity for motor sport and car fans alike to see the winning car. The Gill family are great ambassadors for the Gulf brand. They run a first class operation throughout and we are delighted that they are able to put the Le Mans winner in their showroom. Gulf has such a long and famous history in motor sport, with the winning Ford GT40's and Porsche 917's in the 1960's and 70's, and as Gulf celebrates the 40th anniversary of its first win at Le Mans - we wanted to share a bit of history with the people of Yorkshire."
The car will be on display at John Gill Limited over the next few weeks before going onto various other events in the UK.
