Ramsay MacDonald, Director of Retail
Ramsay, a highly experienced industry specialist, is responsible for all aspects of the company's UK retail portfolio of 1400 forecourts.
He joined GB Oils in August 2010 and before assuming his current role, was involved in a range of special projects, including the acquisition of Pace Fuelcare Ltd. and Total’s oil distribution assets previously owned by Rontec Investments
Having worked across Europe, based in both the UK and Spain, he gained retail experience during over 10 years with Mobil, including nearly eight years as Retail Manager and, before joining GB Oils, was Asset Manager at BP.
Ramsay has degrees from both the University of Aberdeen and the University of Strathclyde, though, as he explains, things could well have worked out differently.
"I am a Highlander originally from Gospie in Sutherland, if I hadn't done well at school the plan was probably to have gone into fishing. After some time on a boat I had sufficient motivation to get a history degree, and then a degree in marketing."
The rest, as they say, is history!
Keith Jewers, Head of Business Development
Keith's move to Gulf saw him return to the brand that introduced him to the oil industry in 1988. He was an integral part of the organisation's forecourt activity, which saw Gulf double its market share and increase its UK service station network from around 200 to more than 550 sites.
Since then he has held senior management positions with Chevron (managing the Gulf brand), Total and latterly as the MD of a large fuels distributor. He re-joined Gulf in 2005.
Keith is married with four children and enjoys all sports in particular sailing. Family holidays are spent in Brittany. Keith and his family are originally from Northumberland.
Jenny Lockwood, Retail Commercial & National Accounts Manager, GBRD
Jenny brings a wealth of petrol retailing experience to GB Oils after 22 years with Total, during which she worked across all areas of the business; from Retail Analyst and Pricing Manager through to National Accounts.
As GBRD’s Retail Commercial & National Accounts Manager, in addition to overseeing offices in Leeds and Egham, Jenny’s responsibilities extend to managing some of the UK’s largest group dealers, a role that she undertakes with a passion.
“Many of the dealers I work with have been customers for over 10 years; relationships built upon experience, trust and mutual respect. An understanding of the dealer market is fundamental along with a flexible approach.” she explains.
Away from work, Jenny lives with her partner and their 13-year-old daughter Amy. Her hobbies include walking and mountain climbing. Her most recent expedition to Peru raised over £5000 for charity.
Paul Muncey, Head of Sales
With more than 28 years served in the oil industry, Paul has acquired a wealth of knowledge relating to the UK dealer market.
In 2002 he was an integral part of the brand’s UK relaunch, heading up the first team. He has since returned to Retail to strengthen and grow the groups and account business. His brief also includes improving the buying power of the retail business to the benefit of Gulf dealers.
Paul resides in Middleton Cheney with his wife Julie. He has three children.
Steve Hampson, Northern Regional Manager, GBRD
Steve has 34 years of experience in the industry, having spent 10 years as Business Manager with Elf, followed by 15 years as Regional Manager with Total.
His current role as Northern Regional Manager for GBRD sees him look after Total and Gulf retail sites in the north of England and Scotland. His day to day role involves implementing effective sales targets and strategies, ensuring optimum profitability through the network of service stations within the region.
Away from the day job, attempts to control his two Boxer Dogs keep Steve occupied!
Alex Friendship, Southern Regional Manager, GBRD
Alex has 21 years of experience working in the industry, having started out with Roadchef, followed by a stint with Elf and finally Total.
During her time with Total, she spent six years based in Paris as a Project Manger working on a European IT project delivering retail solutions for Europe and South Africa, and is now GBRD’s Regional Manager for the south of England.
Away from work, Alex enjoys trekking, skiing and chilling out with a good book!
David Hobson, Commercial Manager
David has worked for Gulf Retail since the Head Office moved to West Yorkshire. He has more than 20 years' experience in the oil Industry, predominately within the transport sector.
As Gulf's Commercial Manager David is responsible for the welfare of the staff, negotiating and contract managing the haulage, pump maintenance and all the Gulf forecourt imagery within the service level agreement.
David is married with two children
Elizabeth Kershaw, Pricing Manager, GBRD
Elizabeth works in the company’s Egham office and heads up the order, pricing and customer support team with responsibility for, amongst other things, Pace and Total-branded dealers. Before joining the Retail Division of GB Oils she was Pricing Manager for Total UK where she gained extensive experience from roles in Refining, Purchasing and Commercial Sales. She was a Retail Analyst before her appointment as Pricing Manager.
She joined Total’s graduation programme in 2003 from university where she studied Politics. She is fluent in French and spent 15 months working at the company’s head office in Paris. Elizabeth is relishing her current role, the challenges and opportunities of working with a progressive and rapidly expanding organisation.
Mark Brown, Regional Manager
Mark has a wealth of experience in the fuel industry, having been part of it for over 25 years.
Initially joining Burmah Fuels in the 1980's, he went on to link up with Keith Jewers at Gulf and was responsible for the development of the Gulf Brand in the North West of England. His role with Gulf Retail now extends as far afield as the Midlands and South Wales.
Mark is currently based in Chester and is married with two daughters. He is a keen supporter of Tranmere Rovers, while he and his family also enjoy skiing holidays together.
Richard Edmondson, Regional Manager
Richard lives just outside Bolton with his partner Anna. He has worked in the petrol and motor retail industry most of his working life, running sites and car showrooms, before going into field sales.
Before joining Gulf in September 2005, he worked for Cookes for eight years in both the lubricants and retail divisions.
When away from the hurly-burly of Gulf Retail, he likes to relax with a few hours coarse fishing, or rebuilding and tinkering with his old cars.
Nicola McKeown, Regional Manager
Nicola joined Q8/Pace in 1990 as a Sales Representative for a Kuwait Petroleum distributor within the commercial sector, before being appointed as its Midlands Depot Supervisor.
She joined the Retail Dealer department as an Area Manager in 1999, and worked in the dealer business for over ten years.
Away from work, Nicola has two children, aged five and ten, and enjoys skiing.
Steve White, Regional Manager
Steve has 30 years of experience working in the independent sector of retail garage fuel supplies. His portfolio includes time working for Anglo, Repsol, UK and Gulf.
At various times throughout his career he has been responsible for garages in the south of England, London and the whole of eastern England, from the south coast to the Scottish border.
In his free time, he enjoys reading and gardening, while he is also a keen collector of World War Two memorabilia.
