Gulf celebrates its Aston Martin racing's victory
Gulf celebrated its 40th anniversary win at Le Mans in the finest possible style. The hard fought victory in LMGT1 went to the Gulf-sponsored Aston Martin Racing DBR9, number 009, driven by David Brabham, Darren Turner and Antonio Garcia.
While many cars have since carried the Gulf colours, the marriage of two storied brands - Aston Martin and Gulf at Le Mans where the two are cast into the history and lore of the event, was a dream convergence for any sportscar racing fan.
Fresh from the win, the victorious Gulf-liveried Aston Martin DBR9 returned to the UK and took its place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed alongside arguably the largest collection of powder blue and orange sportscars ever assembled in the UK, in celebration of Gulf's racing history.
The Gulf Oil Aston Martin DBR9's also received more than half of the votes by SPEEDtv.com by readers in the 'Best Paint Scheme' poll.
