2008
Gulf announced a major motorsport partnership initiative with Aston Martin Racing, linking up with one of the great British institutions as sponsor of the race team's 'factory' Le Mans entry for three years.
Two Aston Martin Racing DBR9s, with their memorable 007 and 009 numbering, were run in Gulf's iconic powder blue and orange livery at La Sarthe in June to become the latest in a long line of successful endurance race cars to carry the legendary Gulf colour.
2008 marked the 40th anniversary of Gulf's first victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours, and the event was celebrated in the finest possible fashion; the 009 Gulf-sponsored Aston Martin Racing DBR9, driven by David Brabham, Darren Turner and Antonio Garcia, earning an incredibly hard fought victory in the LMGT1.
This was another very memorable occasion in Gulf's already long and prosperous motorsport history.
