2008
This year Gulf announced a major motorsport partnership initiative with
Aston Martin Racing, linking up with one of the great British Marques as sponsor of the race team's 'factory' Le Mans entry for three years. The 2008 Aston Martin, with its memorable 007 and 009 numbering, were run in Gulf's iconic blue and orange livery at La Sarthe in June to become the latest in a long line of successful endurance race cars to carry the legendary Gulf colour.
2008 marked the 40th anniversary of Gulf's first victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours with another first place victory by the Gulf branded 009. A significant landmark will follow once again in 2009 - the 50th anniversary of Aston Martin's sole outright win at Le Mans.
