Gulf and the Environment
Renewable Energy
Gulf is a keen supporter of the introduction of bio-fuels, with many forecourts offering bio-fuels to motorists, both bio-diesel and petrol containing bio-ethanol.
Biodegradable Products
Gulf places great importance on the introduction of biodegradable products, especially those used in applications where their release into the environment is inevitable, in particular taking great care to select formulations and components that don't carry a ‘hazardous' label on our oils.
Gulf Lubricants includes in its portfolio a biodegradable range, e.g. Gulf Green 3,000 (marine engine oil). This environmental product is designed to decompose naturally if spilled into the ground.
Fuel Efficiency
Gulf continues to use barges to transport 80 million litres of fuel per annum from Immingham to its main storage depot in Leeds. This is the equivalent of 5,000 lorry journeys per annum or 320,000 road miles.
The company's commitment to preserving the environment was highlighted with the appointment of a company environmental representative to oversee green issues. This staff member sits on health and safety committees and is committed to finding efficient ways to conserve the environment without compromising the quality of service Gulf delivers.
Biofuel
Continuing its commitment to supplying green products, all Gulf petrol stations now supply 5% bio/95% diesel mix.
In addition 40 Gulf petrol stations in Southeast England and 10 stations in Northeast England supply a 5% ethanol/95% petrol mix.
Growing green
Gulf is making its mark on the environment by improving it. The company has three woodland areas at various locations in the north of Great Britain. Customers can offset their carbon footprint by adding £1 to their fuel bill and plant one tree in the woods.
